TYCMW Division Placement Test

INTRODUCTION TO INSTRUCTIONAL DIVISION

The Teach Your Children Math Well Division module provides instruction and practice in basic division concepts through to long division. The program consists of 44 lessons. The first lessons introduce basic division concepts, division facts, division with remainders, dividing larger numbers by one digit, and rounding numbers to estimate the answers. The second part continues instruction and practice in estimating quotients, dividing by two-digit quotients, and working with incorrect estimates. Each lesson will take a student about 10 to 20 minutes to complete.

THE PLACEMENT TEST

When students first begin the Division module, they must complete a Placement Test. The Placement Test presents examples of various problem types. Errors are corrected as the student takes the test. Based on the error data, the student either continues with the test or is told which lesson s/he will begin within the program. (Note: In the second row "divided by" is represented by a :)
